I have large amounts of want for a series 1 Elise with a series 2 Toyota engine and supercharger.

Only 13 more years until I can import a Renault!

Hows the resale on the Series 1 Elise? Do the build quality concerns outweight the purity concerns, or is it the other way around?

Same question about the VX220 turbos.

These 5 grand Elises, show me you them? :)

Cheapest on mobile.de is 8.5k EUR (7k GBP). I'm looking for left hand drive, btw.

I personally have only found them as low as £8,000 as well, though I pulled these price ranges from a euro version of kellybluebook (I forget the name) so i used these ranges.

I don't know too much about the series 1 Lotus Elise, since in America we don't get that car here, but I believe it only came in right hand drive. I do know that people sell left hand drive conversion kits, that I believe come from a donor Vx220 because the Vx220 was built on the same chassis as the series 1 Elise but was available in both rhd and lhd.

I know Vauxhall is not as prestigious a brand as Lotus, but if I had to choose I would go with the Vx220. Faster, turbo, no fiberglass bodyshell, same chassis.
